The 90-minute workshop on Competency-based Staffing Models for Adventure Education Programs takes a new look at risk management through staff training, assessment, and evaluation.

The workshop will run through the following components:

• The importance of organizational alignment in regards to Staffing and Risk Management 
• Creating a culture of Conscious Competence
• Understanding the Mindset of Risk Management through Staffing
• Creating Skill Assessment and Staff Evaluation Tools
• A Case Study of How Alignment Can Improve Program Quality and Reduce Incidents

The workshop is ideal for Challenge Course Managers and Program Directors for Canopy Tours, Zip Lines, Climbing Programs, and Backpacking Programs.  Staff managers and instructors will both gain insights into understanding risk management and skill development. 

Pre-conference workshops on "Technical Rescue Techniques for Ropes Challenge Course and Zip Lines" and "How to Rig a Munter/Mule Releasable Rappel"  are in the planning stages.
